Camping Review at Storybook Land
Last weekend we traveled to Aberdeen, SD to visit Storybook Land and the Land of Oz. We camped at Wylie Park which was within walking distance to these attractions.
If you have little kids, I highly recommend this trip!
I'll give a few of my highlights from the trip:
Imagination. Storybook Land and the Land of Oz has a ton of playgrounds, slides, and buildings based off of all classic children's books and even includes the yellow brick road from the Wizard of Oz.
Camping experience. This was our first time taking our two and four-year-old camping and they loved it. It took some extra work on our end preparing, packing, and setting up the tent, but the kids absolutely loved it and made all the behind the scenes work oh so worth it. We also camped with my brother and his family so the kids loved spending the long weekend with their cousins and Sunday made for a hard goodbye.
Low cost. Visiting the park is free! Although there's enough free things to do throughout the day, there is an option to purchase tickets for a few of their rides. If you choose to stay the night, tenting was only $22 per night. 😀
It was a little bit of a drive but we were able to time it around nap time so both kids took big naps while we were on the road.
The frequent walking trips to the public bathrooms with little ones made for a lot of steps. On Saturday we estimated that we walked around 4 miles throughout the day. Don't get me wrong, walking is great exercise but by the end of the weekend my 35 week pregnant body was ready to go home and lay on the couch!
Have you been to Storybook Land?? I'm curious what was your favorite part of the experience? My son loved seeing the baby buffalo and feeding the goats.
