Turning 30

It's August!

This month I'm looking forward to...

Wrapping up the remaining two weddings that I have booked for the year, starting classes for the fall semester, having a baby, and turning 30 at the end of the month.

Someone once told me that entering their thirties was an exciting time to embrace. The thought here is that throughout most of the twenties, it is typically a time of trying new things and figuring yourself out. And then by thirty, you feel a stronger sense of your own personal integrity and overall more comfortable in your own skin. I couldn't agree more.

My early twenties I had plenty of fun meeting new people while running around NDSU and staying up until the early hours of the morning.

Mid twenties I married a pretty cool guy, moved to Morris, started teaching, bought a house, and started a family.

Late twenties I questioned my purpose more than ever before. I felt a strong calling to pursue more creative outlets and to embark on a new career path.

Something else that was brought to my attention last week while listening to a TED talk was that the brain isn't fully developed until the early to mid thirties (it used to be believed that it was the age of 25).

So yay for the month of August and for entering my thirties!
